Parents and Citizens' Association

Galston Public School has been very fortunate to have a parent organisation that supports the school.

The Parents and Citizens' Association (P&C) gives parents the opportunity to discuss matters that concern their children and also to help raise funds for much needed resources at the school. We welcome any parents wishing to join our parent group.

The aims of the P&C are:

  • to promote the interests of Galston Public School by bringing parents, pupils and teaching staff into close cooperation.
  • to assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school.
  • to provide members with an opportunity for participation and decision-making in the school through attendance at P&C meetings and membership of its sub-committees.

The P&C meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the school library. Many auxillary committees are managed by the P&C, including the uniform shop and the canteen committee. Parents are welcome to be involved at Galston Public School, by participating in activities, attending functions and helping out in a variety of ways in the classroom and within the school community.

Our aim is to continue to make our school a better place for our children with extra resources and fun social actvities. If you have suggestions for the canteen, social events or fundraising, please contact the appropriate committee member.

Parents as partners

Galston Public School teachers value parental involvement in their child's education whilst at school. During the parent information evenings held in Week 4 of Term 1, classroom teachers outline the opportunities to be involved in classroom learning programs.

This may include helpers for literacy groups, reading (with groups or individuals), maths groups, art and craft activities or excursions. Parents may also be involved in extra curricular activities such as assisting with the coaching of sporting teams or accompanying students to tournaments, knockout competitions, gala days or band, choir and drama performances.
